You can already upgrade the Streak to Android 2.1. Many users have already done that and report that overall performance improves noticeably.

You also didn't mention the availability of the Android Marketplace which give Streak users a myriad of ways to customize their Streaks including changing the keyboard layout. Something that probably would have helped you to text better.

You also didn't mention that the storage capacity is user upgradeable through the microSD slot, and you can also swap out the battery.

You also don't mention what your browsing experience was in comparison to smaller smart phones.

Did you try using the phone with the included wired earbuds?

You can use the front facing camera currently for video chatting by downloading the Fring app.
